Sewing a McCalls 6959 Dress (Part 2)

At the end of the last blog post about my McCalls 6959 wrap dress, everything was cut out and ready to go. I’d even made some bias binding from my leftover fabric which I’m still pretty happy about.

The perfect Christmas wrap dress!

Here’s a little preview of how the bodice turned out, I love that collar so much. In fact, I’d go so far as to say this dress pattern may have become my new favourite everyday pattern. I’ve been looking at what fabrics I’ve already got to make another more everyday one. Is circus-themed cotton a bit much though…? We’ll see.

This fabric is a Cotton + Steel one and was a dream to work with. I’ve never used any before but it’s such good quality. The fabric for my dress was kindly given to me by Kirsty from The Fabric Fox, so you need to hop over to their blog to see the rest of the finished dress 🙂

On a slightly random tangent, I think I’ve mentioned that Rocky IV is one of my favourite films. We were watching it again the other night and I couldn’t stop laughing. My dress is very reminiscent of James Brown’s fetching outfit, don’t you think?

Hahaha, how similar is that?! God job I hadn’t gone with a plain blue collar!

I’d love to know what you think of the finished dress, or whether you’ve made a McCalls 6959. You can see the photos of my finished dress over at The Fabric Fox.
