We’re Getting Married!

It was my birthday last Thursday. I was expecting a bit of a low key day, especially as the girls were at school all day. Andy had bought me some photography equipment and I had a hoodie from our karate club from the girls. I definitely wasn’t expecting a proposal!

The Proposal

For Christmas I’d had some Zizzi vouchers from Andy’s parents, so we’d decided to go and have lunch together. You’re probably expecting a story of a romantic proposal over our vegan pizza. Not our style I’m afraid! We did have a very lovely lunch together though, I’d definitely recommend Zizzi if you’re vegan.

Andy actually popped the question in the car, just before we were about to pick the girls up from school! I was very surprised, I had no idea at all. He’d spoken to my Dad about it though, which I thought was nice.

The Ring

A surprise birthday proposal

I love my ring! It’s rose gold, and so sparkly. It’s exactly what I would have picked myself. He knows me so well.

The Wedding

Even though we’ve been together for eight years, we’ve never really talked about the kind of wedding we’d have. Over the past couple of days though we’ve picked a date and everything else seems to be falling into place. We’re not having a massive formal wedding, we just want to keep things as simple as possible. We’ve chosen a theme and that’s helped move things along too.

We would both like to make our wedding as eco-friendly and ethical as we’d can, for example all of the food will be vegan.

I’m very excited that I’ll be making my wedding dress! I ordered some organic fabric swatches from Ray Stitch last night and can’t wait for them to arrived. Obviously I can’t make my dress until nearer the time, but I just want to be organised!

Any tips for a small ethical wedding? I’d love to hear them!

Thank you! I will have a look at the link later when the girls are in bed. Also hadn’t thought of looking at SPR!

Congratulations – we did a low key event some years ago, and it was a lovely day. we did a registry office, family lunch! Neither of us like big crowds or events so it was a great day for us (we also did not really tell anyone till afterwards!) I did make my own dress in denim – and made sure it was finished a few weeks ahead so as not to stress myself

Sounds lovely! Definitely important to do whatever you want to do, isn’t it? Ours is going to be very small, I don’t like being the centre of attention and neither does Andy!
